What is Going on With our Food?
Seriously, it’s disgusting.
Yesterday, I bought chicken and a salad from a popular organic market. The food wasn’t just bad. It was inedible. The chicken tasted so old that I was afraid to feed it to my dog.
I don’t know about you, but I have experienced a very sharp decline in the quality of food. At first I thought it was due to interruptions in the supply chain, or understaffed grocery stores, but it has continued to deteriorate.
In response to this, I started buying organic whenever I had the choice. My food bill doubled, but I noticed an improvement in quality — for awhile.
I was rudely awakened from my complacency when I discovered three of the four containers of organic chicken broth had some weird slimy thing. That occurred on the heels of recalls of cheese and frozen fruit. Last week, I found a hair in something.
Shudder.
You can’t convince me the food doesn’t taste worse now, too. . . it’s just not quite right. Maybe I notice it more because I eat so much organic. Someone tell me if I am wrong.
