Regardless of their vote to certify
On January 6, lawmakers vote to certify the election, and by doing so, they will also publicly state if they support democratic institutions or if they seek to undermine more than 200 years of American history.
Each legislator will signify whether they support an autocracy or functioning democracy. Regardless of which side congressional Republicans choose, it will be the end of their Party as we know it.
Led by Senator Ted Cruz, the stunt to derail Joe Biden’s victory will cause GOP to explicitly state a bold-faced lie. Some sitting Republicans will be arguing whether their own reelection should be questioned, based on allegations that if the presidential race was “stolen” then so too might be their own seat.
With the revelations of Donald’s Trumps continued seditious attempts at a so-called “soft coup” by pressuring states to overturn election results in his favor, Republicans now must either uphold their oath of office, or be branded traitors.
If legislators support Trump in challenging a Biden victory by refusing to certify the election, they will be voicing their belief that the democratic process is no longer valid.
