No, that is not what I am saying.

The federal government could force employers to pay more so there is less disparity in wages for similar jobs. This would stabilize the job market for the lower wage positions by making it less sttractive for workers to job hop.

I am pointing out that when there aren’t consistent rates for labor, the enormous fluctuations in pay will encourage workers to “job shop.” This means that the highest payers — such as Amazon — will beat out other employers.

It’s a massive problem when Amazon is enticing workers away from essential industries simply because other companies will pay the lowest possible wage. By setting the minimum wage to $15, Amazon would either have to pay significantly more, or take fewer workers away.

Amazon, Costco, and Walmart are now looking at getting their own cargo vessels, soon it will be their own docks. They have cannibalized the workforce until it has crippled the shipping industry.

Only the government can regulate this, which they have demonstrated they are reluctant to do.

It’s a moot point. If the government does not do something in the next week — such as sending in the National Guard to move cargo — the supply chain will probably completely collapse. Right now, it’s looking at two years for recovery.

We are going to a number of business closures by January.
