Imagine how disruptive battery storage will be.
We already have systems the size of a dorm refrigerator that will run an entire house. Now, imagine when that shrinks to the size of a toaster and costs about the same as a cell phone.
This will mean people can truly live and work completely off-grid. A lot of people will take advantage of that. And that will revolutionize the job market as people can live in cheaper rural areas while continuing to work in corporate America.
Which means this will change people’s need to cluster in urban areas for jobs. This will seriously disrupt the housing market in places like the bay area.
The technology is here — Tesla’s power wall is about $8k. Within five years, we should see the price drop.
Technology is revolutionizing everything, but we aren’t keeping up with the changes.
