I read an interesting post somewhere about why so many of these corporations want to force workers to return to the office. It's not so much about ego as it is the fact that wealthy investors have an enormous stake in commercial real estate. It must be a real conundrum since they save money on equipment and supplies with the workers at home, but lack the control to make their lives miserable and their portfolios take a beating.
Ultimately, I think the real issue is the huge disconnect between "decision makers" and workers. They don't really give a shit about the employees. Everything they do which has the slightest benefit to the rank and file is a turd polished by Marketing and PR.
