If you’re looking for an easy work from home job that doesn’t require specialized training, a position as a Content Moderator may be for you. If you are spending hours each day scrolling through a feed reading about your favorite hobby, why not get paid for it?

I have been a content moderator for years. Let me share with you the good and bad of the industry.

Spoiler: There are downsides. The upside is that you are improving the Internet for billions of users by removing unwanted, false, and misleading material.

Moderators make cyberspace a better place for everyone.

Which companies hire moderators?

All the big social media platforms hire thousands of workers to review content — Meta, Reddit, TikTok, X/Twitter, Instagram — to name a few.

Any site with a comment section or content contributed by users employs human moderators. These are companies you recognize such as YouTube, Amazon, Quora, Discord.

You might land a job moderating discussion forums, news outlets, podcasts, apps and even video games — really anywhere that allows users to post a question, video, audio, music, or comment.
