Again, you said:
I have never seen women being ignored in a business setting when they had a right to be there.
Never mind that women don’t just show up to meetings uninvited, I asked you to ask three average looking women if they had experienced it.
You ignored me.
(Which was the point of my article — men don’t notice and then reject women’s complaints about it.)
You then talk about “not hot” global political powerhouses garnering attention as if all women should be either hot or super successful to be treated with respect in a business environment.
No, it couldn’t be that I might possibly be right. You start from this premise. You don’t actually ask other women — no, it must be that I failed to be hot, have the power of Hilary Clinton, or I lack charisma. That’s it.
So, in your book, it’s okay to disrespect women who didn’t “pick one”?
You do prove a point, but not the one you think. Ironically. Like many men in a business setting, you automatically reject my ideas because of my gender.
I asked you to discuss it with three women because men frequently make these claims because they fail to notice it.
Men have told me women exaggerate their fear of being in a dark parking lot or being followed claiming that “no woman they know” has ever experienced creepy men. Of course, I know they didn’t ask because I have never met a woman who hasn’t experienced this. It’s so prevalent that we don’t even mention it. And it starts when we are 11 or 12 years old and it’s scary and disgusting.
So, if you actually give a shit to make a better place for women, you would acknowledge that you do not have a good handle on what life is like for them, the hidden discrimination they experience daily, and you would educate yourself.
You know, like asking them their experience.
Or, you can dismiss these anecdotes as “didn’t happen” or “she deserved it” because it challenges your worldview and can be easily rejected because the complaints come from those you don’t grant respect.
Imagine how you would feel if your arguments were rejected because you don’t have Brad Pitt’s looks, Obama’s success, or a big dick.
“Pick one.”
